character relations

the rockin' rollas

Blade: a word, in Netsach, that is synonymous to 'Family'.

DRAKE BADD

Sin-Eater / Godhand / Blade Leader
His brother from another mother, comrade-in-arms, partner-in-crime, and honorary pack mate. These two hit it off immediately, and the years (along with the personal tragedies they have suffered) have only made them closer. Granted, these days, Henry's pretty worried about Drake. Retirement is good for him, yes, but that also means that the Sin-Eater doesn't have anything else to keep him occupied...

SELENE VEGA

Changeling / The Pied Piper / His Actual Blade Leader
2012 may not have forged as strong a bond between Henry and Selene as it did between the likes of Drake, 108, and An'yu, but the past fifty years certainly ended up doing the trick. Something Henry is never going to tell Selene, though, is the fact that he's always got an ear to the ground for her, and a careful eye on her, ah, condition. Or maybe she already knows that, and is perfectly content with letting him step in to handle her if she ever goes a little bit crazy in the future.

108 (SAMUEL CROWLEY)

Demonborn / The Eyes of the Abyss / Science Bro
A bromance forged from the love of science, research, discovery, and exploding things. Both Henry and 108 have seen each other through some pretty crazy things, and have both promised, on at least two separate occasions, to be each other's "final option" if things go south. Nothing says "love" much like somebody willing to put a bullet through your eyes to preserve your humanity, right? Anyway, Henry's primary concern with his brother at the moment is the fact that Sawyer, 108's beloved wife, is dying. They all knew it was coming, but that probably isn't going to make it suck any less.

AN'YU OYAMA

Alchemist / The Blacksmith / Kid Brother
The youngest in the sausage team portion of the Rockin' Rollas, and somebody who, at the beginning of his career in the Vigil, was entrusted to Henry for guidance and tutelage. Suffice to say, Henry kind of screwed it up - Drake and 108 insist that An'yu "turning out wrong" is Henry's fault. As things stand, though, their first year together was a year of learning for the both of them, and An'yu is, perhaps, the closest Henry has to an actual younger brother now in light of the deaths of his own mother and father-in-law. He never hesitates to feel a bit proud of "that kid he used to bully", every time he hears of An'yu's exploits as a member of the Searing Wind and as a part of the Golden Dawn. They've both come a long way.

MICA TORILLO-YOUNG

Card / Chariot / She's Our Girl
Admittedly, Mica was someone that Henry was always a little intimidated by since the beginning - she grew up fast from that girl whom Drake just happened to save with David Young, and it was not long before she became the glue that kept everyone in the Rockin' Rollas together, even after some events (such as Liana and Lars dying) threatened to shake them apart. At present, Henry's inclined to view Mica as a little sister who only too often happens to be smarter than he is. He's not worried about her at all: he's more worried about David.

the pack

Matteo's own People.

PAOLO INOJOSA

Sleepwalker / Godhand / Leader of the Pack
Prior to 2012, Henry only knew Paolo because of his reputation: the Pack was Ateneo de Manila's "top pick" among the blades, and Paolo was the poster child for just how far a "normal" hunter could go while surrounded by his supernatural "betters". Many a fight has forged a steady, solid camaraderie between these two.

GIDEON REYES

Minstrel / First Minstrel / Paolo's Second
Henry and Gideon were, in many ways, complete polar opposites before interesting things started happening in 2012. Henry, for one, was the infamous punk whom Aidan had picked up; Gideon was one of the rising stars of the Philippine Vigil. Given the fact that Aidan placed Gideon in charge of monitoring Henry, their relationship could have gone sour and STAYED sour. Things always change, though, with a whole lot of common enemies and personal decision to step up, grow up, and take charge.

NEEKA ZOBEL DE AYALA

Impervious / CEO of Ayala Incorporated / Professional Partner
The healthy respect (and fear) that Henry harbored for Neeka only deepened after 2013, when the two of them found themselves on the front lines of a different sort of battle for Netsach: the corporate and public relations one. The pair are currently business partners whose trust in each other is pretty much unshakable.

wolf's choice

The Wolf's Pack.

DAVID YOUNG

Card / CEO of Young Incorporated / The Leader of Wolf's Choice
Most everyone underestimates David and has difficulty seeing past the "ridiculous" exuberance and childish tendencies that the Card seems to have, and Henry was no exception. Things started to change, though, after David convinced his father to help Henry out with his own family business, and the two of them have been steady partners ever since. Henry also sees that he and David are like in one way: they are the jokers in their troupe, and are ultimately responsible for checking in on the rest of their team and keeping them from going off the deep end during their darkest times.

ELIAS TAGABIGAY

Obrimos Mage / The Peacemaker / The Real Leader of Wolf's Choice
Like most of the other senior operatives in the three blades, Henry continues to be boggled by how far Elias has gone. The two of them had some pretty interesting times together, and got along very well because of their similar interests. However, while Henry understands Elias' reasons for distancing himself from everyone, he's not exactly happy about it.

JUAN ANTONIO REYES DELA CRUZ

Rivers Hunter / The Orphanage / Sureshot
Anton used to be one of Henry and Drake's favorite targets for pranks and practical jokes because of the fact that the boy was, quite literally, Jungle Boy due to unfortunate circumstances. As such, Henry's honestly boggled at how much Anton has grown up and changed. One thing HASN'T changed, though: the guy's still a crazy accurate archer.

BARBARA GOMEZ

Daeva Vampire / The Golden Hand / Madam Senator
Admittedly, Henry's contact with Barbie was minimal throughout 2012: the two only started really getting to know each other during the Breaking of the Veil and the First Reforms, where Henry found himself in need of an ally while he expanded the Abubot's operations and Barbie needed more firepower for Ordo Daywalker. The two have an excellent professional relationship now.

DEIRDRA MAX-REYES

Riskbreaker / The Cavalry / She's the Lady
While he's not about to tell this to anyone, Henry was pretty afraid of Deirdra until she started becoming, as David jokingly calls it, "a real girl". Of course, Henry has always respected Deirdra for her strength. She's the one to call if anyone in the three blades needs a favor, and said favor happens to involve the serious need for shit to die.

CISCO MONTELIBANO-PROFACI

Changing Breed / The Alpha's Wife / What Does The --
Cen's Forever Girl, now loving wife. Henry and Cisco ended up growing very close to each other even without the Cen Connection, though, because 2012 was pretty insane for everyone. She might not be a Wolf, but she's still a packmate in Henry's eyes.

VINCENZO PROFACI

Uratha [Storm Lord] / Owner of Haven / Alpha
Cen and Henry go pretty far back, as Henry ended up being one of the first Wolfs Cen ever made the moment he entered the Vigil. The pair first grew tight due to similarities in personality, and their friendship only deepened as they found themselves becoming pack mates in the Lodge of the Vigil, comrades on a number of Uratha battlefields, and business partners.

ARIA SKYE

Thyrsus Mage / the Living Land / Surrogate Mom of Wolf's Choice
Henry views Aria as the true leader of Wolf's Choice, and possibly with good reason: she is the surrogate older sister to the lot of them, and serves as the third that counterbalances Elias' cool assessments and David's almost blind faith in other people. She is also scarier, in some ways, than Deirdra is... but he's never going to tell her that to her face. Nope.

TALA VEGA

Changeling / The Key / Selene's (Evil) Twin
So Selene and Henry might be pretty tight, but that doesn't necessarily mean that he's as close to Tala as he is to Tala's sister. Tala, in Henry's opinion, makes the likes of Aria and Deirdra look perfectly normal and absolutely harmless. They're comrades, yeah, but Henry's not about to do anything that might even be possibly conceived as a slight against this girl.

the malice kings

The beloved gods who walk among us People.

LIANDRIN DELACROIX

Mastigos Mage / Lady Swallowtail / The Kaiser
Screw whatever 108 says: the Kaiser is one SCARY woman who has always demanded his respect, and she continues to have the fascinating ability to make Henry feel like he has not grown up much at all. That she seems to trust him as the founder of the Abubot's expanded enterprise continues to amaze him.

AIDAN CLAYCE

The Voidseeker / Founder of Netsach / Always and Ever Father
The man who, when he was still a part of the Methuselah and the Kaiser of Anino, pretty much saved Henry's life and continued to give him a chance no matter how much he fucked up. Henry is painfully aware of how much he owes Aidan for everything, and honestly? One of the reasons why he continues to work so hard is to make sure that he'll never disappoint Aidan again.

RILEY FALNER

The Daywalker / Vicar of Netsach / Mr. Falner
Henry never had the privilege of being acquainted to Riley in the same way that the likes of Barbara Gomez did, but he has always harbored a healthy respect, as someone aware of the inner workings of the World of Darkness, of the Daywalker's significance in the Vigil. Granted, in as much as he's pleased to see Riley up and about so early, he's fully aware of the implications of it too.

CALINTZ DUSKRIDER

Riskbreaker / King of the Limitless / America's Finest
Although the likes of Wolf's Choice had a bit of a head start with Calintz back in 2012, Henry found himself growing closer to Calintz during the First Reforms and the Darkest Vigil, when the Riskbreaker King became the Lodge's go-to person for the Great Tribe and their various tribulations when the wars were at their highest points. Now the two are pretty regular drinking buddies.

RILEA HEARTNET

Thyrsus Mage / the Living Land / Liberty's Belle
Getting close to a bro (i.e. Calintz) often means getting close to the wife, and Rilea was no exception to that rule for Henry. It always makes him a little warm and fuzzy inside, how the Living Land seems to view him in a fashion similar to Anton, Aria, Deirdra, and her own kids: as one of her children.

RETHE KYRIFF

Seraph / The Dragon's Companion / The Angel of Haven
Henry was part of the last generation of Anino operatives who utilized Rethe's network as their tip-off point for missions, and often turned to the angel for guidance whenever they were stuck. As such, Henry has always treated this one with respect. They might not exactly be friends, but that doesn't stop Henry from trying to look out for him in his own way, especially since it's obvious that he really love's Aidan - he's just painfully shy.

LORENZO REYES

Razgriz / Alastor the Bound / Narcobuddy
Not a lot of people know this, but back when Henry used to curl up on random rooftops in Ateneo for a nap or just to plain out avoid responsibility, Lorenzo was his sometimes nap buddy. Sure, they never talked much (who really gets to TALK to Lorenzo when he's like that anyway?), but at least the Razgriz doesn't take minutes on end to remember him... that's a start, right?

ALISTAIR MORDECHAI

Rivers Hunter / the Seer / the Watchman
Perhaps the only person whom Henry finds just about as scary as Liandrin would be Alistair. He never grew close to the Seer in the same way that he had to the likes of Hikaru, and it isn't like Alistair's very easy to get along with either. Sure, he respects the guy: you can't not respect strength. But he's still pretty sure that if he ever pisses Tala off, Alistair's going to be the one who puts a bullet through his brain...

MAES MORDECHAI

The Butcher / Bishop of the Brotherhood / Crazy Irishman
Werewolves like Henry are instinctively aware of the so-called "natural order of things", that cycle that determines predator and prey, who's on top and who isn't. Suffice to say, happy as he is that the Butcher has returned to the Kings, Henry's not about to get close to this one. He knows an Apex Predator when he sees one, and something tells him that unlike Hikaru, Maes really doesn't give a fuck unless you happen to be one of his own. Henry isn't ever going to dare to think that he falls in THAT category, so.

HIKARU SHINTA

Bladian / Blade King of Zangyaku / The Real Big Bad Wolf
While the Rockin' Rollas might not have been as "favored" by Hikaru as Wolf's Choice had been, Henry's not a stupid man: he's aware of the full extent of what Hikaru has done for him, and - on a larger scale - what he's done for everyone. The Blade King is, perhaps, the only other Malice King whom Henry views as something akin to family, and Henry is always more than willing to risk his neck for the man.

SETSUNA SHINTA

Great Spirit / the Fatespinner / Sister Fox
Something that Henry is very quiet about is the fact that Setsuna served as a sort of a source of light for him during his darkest days, when he was still new to the Methuselah and had no real idea where he was going. She occasionally mediated between him and Aidan, sat with Henry whenever he felt lonely on Ateneo's grounds, and made it a point to scold him (gently) when she felt that he was falling back into old habits. Her loss affected him, and he's only too glad for every opportunity to see her again, no matter how short it happens to be.

JESSIAH VICE

Card / CEO of Vice Enterprises / the Hanged Man
Henry's biggest business partner, and one of the people who was pretty much responsible for resurrecting not just Lim Incorporated, but also for setting the Abubot up to service the needs of the entirety of the Vigil. Everyone calls Jessie an asshole, but Henry sees him in a vastly different light: they're partners, comrades in the Vigil, and fellow entrepreneurs. He knows he can call on Mr. Vice if there's ever a problem, and rest assured: he'll drop everything the moment Vice needs him.

other packmates

Because you don't need to be a wolf to be a part of this guy's pack.

SAWYER MESCH-CROWLEY

Augmented Psychic / The Dovetailor / Our Eyes in the Sky
Beyond the fact that Henry is pretty damned sure, like pretty much everyone in Netsach, that he would have died a long time ago where it not for the likes of the Dovetailor, Sawyer also happens to be 108's wife, and Henry and 108 just happen to be incredibly, incredibly close. Henry doesn't like to think about it all that much, how losing her will be a blow to all of them, most especially the Rockin' Rollas: it'll be like losing a sister.

MAKOTO KUZUNOHA

Geist / The Tactician / The Wanderer
Makoto may have been Drake's man first, but many a drink and many a joint in good times and in good places has the tendency to form beautiful friendships. Granted, while Henry is happy to see Makoto back, he, like any occultist on his level, knows the implications of such a return. Of course, he doesn't know the reasons behind it, and he's a little afraid to ask...

MARGARET MONTELIBANO-PROFACI

Changing Breed / Heart-Ripper / Blade Leader of Fox Trot
One of Cisco's twins and the apple of Cen's eye - also, amusedly, one of the main reasons why Henry's Alpha gets gray hairs, which Henry always teases his Wolfbrother about. Henry personally handled training Margaret in Twilight back in the day in a fashion similar to how he mentored Cisco, and is always pleased to hear from her whenever she drops in.

RENAE MONTELIBANO-PROFACI

Changing Breed / Root-Weaver / Head of Leviathan
Renae could not be more different from Maggie than the night is from day, and it's his specific kind of difference that makes Henry a little fonder of the kid than he is of Maggie. Granted, that does not stop Henry from teasing Renae mercilessly about his lack of a social life in the way an uncle might rib a favored nephew... as if he isn't the same, really, but nobody had to know that.

KALIKA SHINTA

Changing Breed / the Cat / Magistrate of Kibo
Kalika tagged along with the three blades a whole lot in 2012, both because of Hikaru's keen interest in them and because of her own keen interest in Anton - as such, Henry had many an opportunity to hang around her, and get to know her. They only started to relate with each other more after Kalika married Anton. At the moment, Henry views Kalika as a fellow Wolfsister, and treats her with both brotherly affection and careful respect.

the war hounds

The new pups on the block.

JOSHUA LARUE [BRENNAN]

Sin-Eater / Blade Leader of the War Hounds
He didn't have much of an opinion of this one at first, beyond the intrigue that naturally came with the kid being a part of "The Blade King's new pet project": he seemed nice enough, and he seemed like the kind of person who'd make a good Hunter. And then Henry heard about Joshua making waves in Rhiannon, stepping up as the blade leader of the Hounds even in the midst of several notable veterans, becoming Hikaru Shinta's latest and... well. Color him intrigued now.

YULIA BOSTOVA

Bladian / Second of the War Hounds
Yulia was actually the first War Hound that Henry heard about, and it was completely at random: a couple of ops from Jotunheim had mentioned, near the end of 2062, how their rising star had not made it to Zangyaku as she had intended. And then Yulia came to Falner. He's never managed to talk to Yulia for very long, but he has noticed something different about her. Well and good: Bladians ought to live well, because if they don't get to, it isn't pretty. Henry knows that firsthand.

ESTANISLAO MARISIGAN III

Obrimos Mage / Third of the Hounds
Henry had half the mind, upon meeting Taning, to very affectionately chew him out: he, like many of the Rockin' Rollas, had occasionally been treated to Aidan's quiet upset over Taning never dropping in to say hello to him. From what he knows, though, that no longer happens. And yes, he knows all about your, ah, particular appreciation of the finer points in life, brother. (He totally approves.)

BRIGADE [ROLAND STEVENSON]

Promethean / Netsach's Captain America
At present, Henry's not quite sure what to make of this one beyond the pleasant possibility of Brigade being a regular customer. An'yu seems to speak highly enough of him, though, so that probably means that he's a good man. He also hasn't missed the fact that Hikaru entrusted Gintoki to him: that has got to count for something.

BRIANNA LOPEZ

Changeling / The Wolf's Third Daughter
Henry has seriously conflicted feelings about this one. He has a soft spot for Changeling girls, he really does, but she is Hikaru's newest daughter and Tala's "bestie". That is absolutely FRIGHTENING.

KARLO ANTONIO ZOBEL DE AYALA

Vaizard / Latest Wielder of the Wings
Henry naturally knew Kaz before he ever became a Hound due to the fact that he's Neeka's grandson - they never really go to talk, but he seemed like a good enough kid, if not a little spoiled. At present, Henry has observed that Kaz appears to have grown up some, but has not really bothered to check in with him. He's content to leave the members of the Pack to be family to the boy, and content to leave the Hounds to help Kaz handle those Wings.
